YHALE 2024-2025 Academic Year Admissions Process
For the 2024-2025 school year, applications for new students will start on January 4th, 2024.
Before You Apply
– Applicants for kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2024.
– Applicants for 1st grade must be 6 years old on or before September 1, 2024, regardless of completing Kindergarten at a private school.
– All residents of the State of Georgia are eligible to apply at YHALE.
Language Proficiency Requirements
Kindergarten to 1st Grade:
Enrollment is open to all rising Kindergarten and rising 1st grade students who are Georgia residents regardless of experience or proficiency in a target language offered at YHALE.
2nd Grade and Above:
In accordance with guidelines set forth by the Georgia Department of Education (SBOE Rule 160-4-9-.05), prospective students entering 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade need to demonstrate a certain level of proficiency in either Chinese Mandarin (simplified) or Korean through the Avant STAMP 4Se assessment. The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate the child’s current knowledge of Mandarin Chinese or Korean, ensuring that they have sufficient proficiency in the target language to succeed in YHALE’s language immersion program. 2024-2025 Admissions Timeline
For 6th Grade: New Student Application: Rolling Admission opens April 26, 2024
Rising 6th grade students who want to transfer to YHALE will need to take the above described language proficiency test. These applicants may opt to take the test in July 2024. This will allow prospective 6th grade students extra time to prepare for the proficiency test. Please call the school at (404) 738-6219, and ask for Ji Ma to arrange for a testing time and options to prepare for the language proficiency test if needed.

For K- 5th Grades: Initial Application: Jan. 4th (12:01 am) – March 15, 2024 (11:59 pm)
The electronic application for the 2024-2025 school year is available via Lotterease beginning January 4th, 2024 at 12:01 am. The deadline to submit a student application to be included in the lottery, if one is necessary, for the 2024-2025 school year is March 15th, 2024 at 11:59 pm. After this deadline, YHALE will continue to accept student applications for any remaining seats on a first come first serve basis. A lottery will be necessary if more applications are submitted than the number of available seats for any particular grade. If a lottery is necessary for any particular grade, applications received after March 15, 2024 will be placed at the end of the waitlist, as determined by the lottery, in the order in which they are received. The lottery will determine the order of the applications on the waitlist. Only one lottery will be held, if necessary, per year per grade.
Lottery Date: March 20, 2024 at 2 pm
A public Lottery will be held via a Zoom Meeting if there are more applicants than seats available, for any given grade. The lottery will electronically assign a number for each applicant in the lottery. The number assigned to each applicant will determine which applicants will be offered a seat or will be placed on a waitlist for the 2024-2025 school year.

Seat Acceptance Deadline: March 25, 2024 – by 11:59 pm
Applicants who are offered a seat must confirm their acceptance of their seats by March 25, 2024 at 11:59 pm. If applicants who are offered a seat do not confirm acceptance of their seat by this deadline, then they will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist for their respective grade. Target Language Acceptance
YHALE will try to place applicants in their top target language choice indicated on their application. YHALE will notify applicants of their target language placement and send a Language Acceptance Form via email soon after the deadline for seat acceptance.
Students who have accepted their seats will have 3 days in which to accept/decline their placement into a target language. If an applicant declines his/her target language placement, the applicant forfeits his/her seat and moves to the end of the grade-level waitlist. If a seat becomes available after all target language placements have been made, the seat (and its corresponding target language placement) will be offered to the next applicant on the waitlist, and a Language Acceptance Form will be sent to the parent. This process continues until all seats have been filled.
Completed Enrollment & Document Submission Deadline: April 24, 2024 – by 11:59 pm
Students who have accepted their seats will have 30 days from the seat acceptance deadline to submit a completed enrollment packet.

March 15: Open Enrollment
Applications will continue to be accepted, and applicants will be offered seats within each grade on a first come first serve basis. If all seats within a grade have been filled, applicants will be added to the end of the waitlist in the order in which they were received. Admissions and enrollment will continue on a rolling basis as space permits.
Non-Electronic Way to Apply
Applicants may submit a paper application if they prefer or do not have the means to complete the electronic application. YHALE staff will transfer the information from paper applications into an electronic form in Lotterease. Paper applications may be obtained in one of the following ways:
– Email an application request to enrollment@yhale.org. An application will be emailed back to you.
– Call (404) 738-6219 to request that a paper application be mailed to you.
– Call (404) 738-6219 to request that a paper application be prepared for you to pick up at the school.
– You may come to the school and request a paper application from the receptionist.
Once you complete the paper application, please mail it to YHALE or submit it to YHALE’s front desk during the enrollment period. Please note that applications will only be accepted for grades with available seats.
