Target Language Proficiency Requirement

YHALE Target Language Proficiency Requirements

Kindergarten and 1st Grade:

Enrollment is open to all rising and current Kindergarten students as well as rising and current 1st grade students who are Georgia residents, regardless of experience or proficiency in a target language offered at YHALE.

2nd Grade and Above:

In accordance with guidelines set forth by the Georgia Department of Education (SBOE Rule 160-4-9-.05), prospective students entering or transferring into 2nd grade and above need to demonstrate a certain level of proficiency in either Chinese Mandarin (simplified) or Korean through the Avant STAMP 4Se assessment. The purpose of this assessment is to evaluate the child’s current knowledge of Mandarin Chinese or Korean, ensuring that they have sufficient proficiency in the target language to succeed in YHALE’s language immersion program.

Test exemption applied to the following groups:

1. For students who have received the same grade-level education fully in the target language (Korean or Mandarin Chinese) and can provide their school transcripts as proof.
2. For students who withdrew from YHALE but transferred back within 90 calendar days.
