The agenda is prepared in advance of each meeting. Anyone wishing to speak before the Board must inform the Superintendent/Principal and Governing Board Secretary in writing by noon on the Monday immediately prior to the Board meeting and must provide in advance specific information as to the topic/concern to be addressed.
Requests may be submitted to the YHALE Principal by email to firstname.lastname@example.org and to the Governing Board Secretary by e-mail to email@example.com. Also, requests may be mailed to the principal and board secretary at 4550 River Green Parkway, Suite 100, Duluth, GA 30096 or delivered at the same address. Delivered requests should be date and time stamped and signed by the receptionist.
Individuals requesting to speak to the Board will be notified that the request has been received. A speaker’s information form will be forwarded to individuals who submit a request to speak. Once a citizen has notified the Governing Board of his or her intent to speak (by noon on Monday prior to the Board meeting), he or she has until 5 p.m. on the day of the meeting to submit the completed request form.
Additionally, prior to each monthly Board meeting, a sign-up sheet is available in the lobby the night of the meeting for individuals wishing to address the Board at the board meeting. Individuals requesting to speak to the Board must sign in by 6:15pm in order to address the Board.
To ensure effective public participation at Business Meetings of the Board, the following procedures are in effect.
- Must limit comments to three (3) minutes and end promptly when the allotted time has expired.
- May not yield his/her time to another speaker who has not signed up in advance and has not completed the speaker’s form. (Speakers also may not share speaking time with non-scheduled speakers.)
- Should attempt to resolve issues through all appropriate school administrator levels before bringing the matter to the Board.
Individuals who have questions of the board may email board members directly at any time. Please give board members at least 48 hours to respond. If you do not receive an response, please re-send your email and courtesy copy the principal at firstname.lastname@example.org, and you may also leave a telephone message with the school receptionist at 404-623-0003. Certain board members may better able to answer your question if your question falls into a certain category. Please see below:
